Dell Cottage is committed to implementing the EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE (EYFS) within the setting.
This framework is in place to give parents encouragement and understanding that their child will be safe and thrive
until they leave to go to school.
This framework was updated in September 2012 – The four themes and principles of the EYFS are ;
A UNIQUE CHILD – POSTIVE RELATIONSHIPS – ENABLING ENVIRONMENTS – LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
Practitioners at Dell Cottage consider children’s individual needs, interests and stages of development and use this information to plan a challenging and enjoyable experience for each child in all areas of learning. Each area of learning is implemented through planned purposeful play and through a mix of adult and child initiated activities.
Prime areas of Learning are: Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, Physical Development
Specific areas: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Design
PARENT PARTICIPATION: We aim to work in partnership with parents and welcome their input. Parents are encouraged to meet regularly with staff to discuss their child’s development.
KEY PERSON: Your child will be assigned a Key Person who will have responsibility for him/her. This person will help your child settle in and liaise with you on their daily activities, an information slip will be given to you at the end of a session.
PROGRESS: Your child’s progress will be recorded in an “All About Me” file which you will have access to anytime. The file will consist of observations made on your child’s learning and development while at Dell Cottage. Parents are welcome to add comments about achievements made at home, this file will then be yours to pass on to your child’s school.
